This month’s blog is this gem of a tune Dayton’s sound of music another personal fave of mine as I’m sure its yours too. Dayton from Ohio USA, were a disco funk band who started life in 1980. The band were formed by Chris Jones (vocalist and trumpeter)  and Shawn Sandbridge (vocals and guitar) then to complete the line up of Dayton there were Derrick Armstrong (vocals) Kevin hurt (Drummer) Jennifer Mathews (vocals) Dean Simmons (keyboards) and Rachel Beavers (vocals).

In 1980 Dayton were signed to the liberty record label, and toured with Ashford and Simpson, Stephanie Mills and Quincy Jones cutting their teeth in the music industry. They made 2 albums with the liberty record label having a hit with eyes on you, before changing labels in 1982 to capitol records.

Always looking to improve , they introduced Ranhi Harris to the group for his input on (keyboards ) to their 3rd album titled feel the music. Which is where this month’s blog was taken from, Dayton made one more album in 1985 but it never had any impact as their previous album did sadly that was the end of Dayton as a group still they left us with some wonderful music I’m sure you’ll agree.

1980 – Dayton (Liberty)
1981 – Cutie Pie (Liberty)
1982 – Hot Fun (Capitol)
1983 – Feel the Music (Liberty)
1985 – This Time (Capitol)
